Matthew Mitcham's Biography

Former Trampolinist, Matthew, impressed the world with his final dive, the Back 2½ Somersaults 2½ Twists Piked, in the 10m Platform final of the Olympic Games. He scored four tens and by winning the gold medal prevented China from taking a clean sweep of the diving events. He also took 16th place in the 3m Springboard.

At the 2008 Australian Championships, he became the first diver in 14 years to win the 1m Springboard, 3m Springboard and the 10m Platform. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Matthew took fourth place in both the 3m Springboard and Synchro and fifth place in the 1m Springboard and 10m Platform.

Matthew also competed at the 2005 World Championships and took 12th place in the 10m Platform.
