Popular TV presenter and comedian Justin Lee Collins is taking the plunge - literally - and all in the name of family entertainment!
The all action man is currently in training to perform a nerve-wracking dive off the 10m platform at Ponds Forge in Sheffield during the FINA World Diving Series on April 18-19.
And whilst Justin won't be competing against the likes of international diving stars such as Tom Daley and Matt Mitcham, he has been given his own exclusive dive slot in between the professional heats to show off his newly honed diving skills.
The 37-year-old father of two will be testing both his nerves and fitness as he attempts to dive off the 10m platform in front of a cheering crowd, as well as the cream of the world diving coaches and competitors. It will also be filmed as part of his Sky 1 series - Justin Collins is...
The FINA Diving World Series began as a world-class competition only two years ago and was seen as an opportunity to showcase the best international talent to a worldwide television audience. Entry is by invitation only to the world's highest ranked divers and a number of "wild cards" given to the Host nation. Top divers include Olympic gold medallists, world and European champions, and the UK own diving squad.
Sheffield is one of four legs taking place within the worldwide series with China, Qatar and Mexico also hosting events. Divers from 15 nations will be travelling the globe to take part in each heat with the eventual winners claiming cash prizes.
China dominated the medal tables in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 but the Australian and Russian squads also produced several medal winning performances. All three countries are being represented in the FINA DWS as well as Canada, Germany, Mexico and the US.
Squad GB - made up of Ben Swain, Tom Daley, Nicholas Robinson-Baker, Rebecca Gallantree, and twins Helen and Carol Galashan - are also hoping to put in strong performances in front of a home crowd when they take to the platform in seven of the eight event categories.
For the Sheffield Heat, tickets are now on sales and are priced £10 for one day or £15 for both days for adults. Tickets for under-16s are £5 per day or £7.50 for both days. Family tickets are also available as well as group discounts.
Tickets are available at www.swimming.org or by telephoning 0800 220292.
