Diving sensation Tom Daley is producing the dives of his young life as he looks set for the FINA Diving World Series in Sheffield on April 18-19.
Having recently claimed a bronze medal in the 10m Platform competition in the second leg of this year's FINA DWS in China, Tom also achieved a best of 540.70 smashing his previous record of 517.55.
Competing in GB colours, Daley also claimed the scalp of the reigning Olympic champion Australian Matt Mitcham. The event was won by China's Luxin Zhou with a 560.00 points total, with the silver medal going to another of the Chinese divers Qui Bo, who finished with a score of 542.25.
Interest in the Sheffield leg of the FINA DWS is now intensifying as the world's best will go head to head in front of Daley's enthusiastic British fans.
"It was a remarkable performance, even by Daley," said Kim White from British Swimming. "The Sheffield leg at Ponds Forge promises to be a classic showdown with both Matt and Tom having something to prove.
"Expectations are now huge and this could be the last chance to see Tom compete in England for some time as he then goes to Mexico for the final FINA DWS leg and then back to training for the World Championships in Rome.
For the Sheffield leg, tickets are now on sales and are priced £10 for one day or £15 for both days for adults. Tickets for under-16s are £5 per day or £7.50 for both days. Family tickets are also available as well as group discounts.
Tickets are available at www.swimming.org or by telephoning 0800 220292.
